Hello, Self Developers and welcome to the Patrick Kelly podcast for Self-Development where I will be reviewing. Audible books on self-development that can change your life for the better this year and years to come. It is said that if we keep on doing what we always did, we will keep on getting what we always got. In other words, to change our output, we first have to change our input.
Today is March 14th, 2021. And this is episode 9 and today we'll be reviewing the audible book. Get out of your own way, how to overcome any obstacle in your life by Larry wing gets this old book explores how to change your life today. By getting out of your own way. Larry, when get, is known as an irritational speaker, rather than a motivational speaker, he gets in your face. Like no other person can by telling you what you need to hear, because it is the truth.
Here are the principles to get you from where you are to where you want to be.
Principle # 1: When you start to care more about your life, more than anyone else, cures that as the one, you will be willing to make the changes you need to make in your life. Your life is your own damn fault. Your thoughts, your words, your actions are what created the results that you're experiencing today. It is your fault. Take responsibility for it. Go to the mirror and tell yourself. I created, this is not about shelf help, which is buying a book and then putting it on a shelf to collect dust is about self-help, which is to pick up the book, read it, and then implement the material lessons inside of the book.
Principle # 2: Stop being a victim and start being a Victor by taking control of your life. Do you want to be healthy? Over 300,000 people in United States will die because of poor eating habits in being inactive, which means failure to exercise. 9% of obesity is directly related to lifestyle. All it takes is to eat less and exercise more small changes can create amazing results. 1.3 billion people light up a cigarette every day. Every you smoke shortens your life by 13 minutes. It's every single day people, two things to shorten their lives. Change your life by changing your lifestyle.
Principle # 3: How are your finances? When you start to make better choices, you will get better results. Start with the end in mind. How do you want your life to be in the future? You won't have a future unless you stopped doing stupid things in the present. The average 50 year old in America. Has less than $2,500 in cash saved for retirement. If this average 50 year old started going to work at age 25, this would amount to $100 per year or $8 and 33 cents per month saved people have money because they choose to have money. It's all about choices. Make better choices to choose a better life, better choices, better results.
Principal #4: People are doing stupid things to screw up their lives, stop doing what is hurting. You, stop doing whatever it is that keeps you from achieving your goals. Figure out what is not giving you the results that you want and stop doing those things. Only at that point, can you start to do the things that do create the life that you want? Human beings, our own species on earth, who knowingly choose to be less, do less and have less than they could. Nothing else on our planet. Does that no other living creature does that only people do that. Your dog doesn't do that. Plants don't do that. Plants don't grow to a certain level and just go, eh, I'm good, and stop growing. That's not how plants grow. That's not how any other creature grows. Only people every single day, choose to have less be less and do less than they could stop accepting the results that you have.
Principal # 5: Do you see how you're getting in your own way? Are you understanding that your life is the way it is? Because that is how you chosen to be. When you realize that you've made mistakes and you're willing to be responsible for those mistakes, then that's when you'll be able to move forward and fix those mistakes. Are you doing the things that are moving you towards your goals on wheel, away from your goals? What is important to you? What you spend your money on dictates what is important to you? Sometimes the truth hurts.
Principle # 6: What is the vision you have for your life right now? Everything that's going on in your life right now, everything that you're experiencing you are expensive because of the vision you have for the life. The house you live in or don't live in is a vision you have for your life. The relationship you're in or not in is a vision you have for your life. The amount of money that you have in your wallet or don't have in your wallet is a vision you have for your life. Your life is the way you want to be, because that is what you are willing to accept. You have to create a new Bishop of your life. If you want your life to change.
Principle # 7: We have to raise our level of expectations. We get what we expect and we have to inspect what we expect. When you tell people what you expect from them, they have a high chance of delivering. What you expect from them because you have communicated your level of expectations, expect more from other people by expecting more from yourself. That is when you know you are serious about personal development, about self-improvement about really turning your life around when you are willing to draw that line in the sand in front of yourself and not compromise your own standards, even when no one is looking, even when no one else is going to find out, even when it will be a secret just between you and you. That's when you know how serious you really, really are.
