Today is April 04, 2021 and This is Episode 12, and Today, we will be reviewing the Audible Book, “The Laws of Lifetime Growth”, Always Make Your Future Bigger Than Your Past by Dan Sullivan and Catherine Nomura. This Audible Book explores 10 simple laws that will help you continue to grow, throughout your life. The Author states that growth is a fundamental desire of all human beings. What ever you want to see in your life that is not there now, is all about growth. Growth is at the root of everything that gives us a feeling of accomplishment, satisfaction, meaning, and progress.
Law #1: Always Make Your Future Bigger Than Your Past: You will always grow if you keep your future, bigger than your past. A bigger future is essential for lifetime growth. Your future is your property, and you can design it to be what ever you want. The bigger future is the vision, and growth is what makes it real. A bigger future includes any thing you want to see that is some how an improvement, on what is true now. Your future is only limited by what you can imagine. Small steps keep you growing.
Law #2: Always make your learning greater than your experience: Continual learning is essential for lifetime growth. Experience alone is no guarantee of lifetime growth. But if you regularly transform your experiences into lifetime lessons, you will make each day of your life, a source of growth. Even a small experience can be a major source of greater learning. Transform your experiences into lessons, and you will never feel disadvantaged by your past. Always remember lessons learned, changes made.
Law #3: Always make your contribution bigger than your reward: Increased contribution to others is essential for lifetime growth. As you become more successful, numerous rewards will come your way. Always focus on creating new kinds of value for larger numbers of people, and you will insure that your contribution, is always greater than your reward. It is the contribution that makes us grow. Abundance flows to Contributors.
Law #4: Always make your performance greater than your applause: Increase performance is essential for lifetime growth. The future is always created through Action. You have control over your performance, but you never have control over other people’s responses, approval, or applause. By always focusing on improving your performance and treating applause as a byproduct that you accept with gratitude, you can insure continued growth. Treat applause as something you can be grateful for, and not as an entitlement.
Law #5: Always make your gratitude greater than your success: Increased gratitude is essential for lifetime growth. Every success comes from the assistance of many other people. Always acknowledge other’s contributions, and you will automatically create room in your mind, and in the world, for much greater success. Focus on appreciating and thanking others, and conditions will always grow, to support your increasing success. Success is a process, not a destination. Living a successful life comes from constantly growing. Gratitude makes constant growth a given. Gratitude is the greatest guarantee of continual interaction with the world, over a lifetime. What we appreciate, appreciates.
Law #6: Always make your enjoyment greater than your effort: Enjoyment is essential for lifetime growth. Approach everything you do with a sense of play. It is not how much time and effort you put in that counts, what matters is the result. Growth sets the stage for a bigger future. Enjoyment makes things possible that wouldn’t ordinarily be. Turn task into gains, by breaking the task into manageable chunks.
Law #7: Always make your cooperation greater than your status: Cooperation is essential for lifetime growth. By making your contribution greater than your status, you will find unlimited possibilities and synergies, in combing your talents and opportunities with those of others. You can accomplish anything in the world, as long as you don’t care who gets the credit. If you let status be a byproduct of the results you create, through increasing cooperation, you will keep the path open, for your continued growth. Always Appreciate the contributions and talents of others.
Law #8: Always make your confidence greater than your comfort: Increased confidence is crucial for lifetime growth. All growth requires that we stretch beyond, where we have been before. Confidence gives us the ability to overcome fear and stay in motion, continually realizing our bigger future. Short breaks build confidence. Continued growth requires a balance between stretching ourselves beyond where we are comfortable, to increase our confidence to new levels, and taking comfort breaks at those new levels, so that they can begin to feel normal.
Law #9: Always make your purpose greater than your money: Greater purpose is essential for lifetime growth. Money without purpose loses it’s meaning. Money as an end, becomes a growth stopper. Having a purpose that is greater than yourself, gives you a constant impetus to strive. Purpose gives life meaning and helps us to direct and focus our talents and efforts. It also attracts the talents and energies of others, whose purposes align with our own. Think of money only as a means of achieving a greater purpose, and you will attract all the resources and rewards that make up a rich life, not just money.
Law #10: Always make your questions bigger than your answers: Questions are essential for lifetime growth. What we already know is in the past, what we have yet to discover, is in the future. Always make your questions bigger than your answers, and you will keep drawing yourself into a bigger future, with new possibilities. Questions open the door to inquiries. Great questions are open ended because they do not have easy answers. Questions connect us with the world. Questions open dialog.
Closing Thoughts: On a scale of 1 to 5, I would give this audible book a 4 for good content and having 10 laws to help a person grow and develop themselves. To find out more about “The Laws of Lifetime Growth”, go to audible.com and download this audible book or go to: www.lifetimegrowth.com
